EvO Altus Wins 2018 Red Dot Product Design Award!
July 31, 2018For three years, the experts of Karma Medical Co. Taiwan and importer Karma Europe (a member of the Life & Mobility Group) worked hard to develop the EVO Altus: the electric wheelchair that helps people sit, lie down and stand. That hard work has now been rewarded with a Red Dot Design Award. Red Dot Product Design Award, Healthcare category
This year, the specialist international jury of Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen evaluated the design and innovative qualities of more than 6,300 designs. Because the EVO Altus achieved an excellent score for innovation, functionality, quality, ergonomics and sustainability, the electric wheelchair was voted the Red Dot Product Design winner in the Healthcare category. The coveted award and the accompanying yearbook were presented at the Red Dot Awards Ceremony on 9 July.
Standing, lying down or sitting in an electric wheelchair
The EVO Altus is based on the renowned EVO chassis with high-end electronics that can be operated with a light joystick or individually adapted controls. This means that people can change their position themselves, enabling them to function with maximum independence whilst sitting, lying down or standing. Moreover, the standing function of this unique wheelchair contributes to improved blood circulation, bone density and bladder function.
The innovative design of the EVO Altus makes it possible to fully adapt the wheelchair to the user’s wishes and living/working environment. Eric van Olst: “The Red Dot Design Award is fantastic, of course, but we’re especially proud of the extra independence and improved quality of life that we can offer our users with the EVO Altus.
